You Need to Be Willing For Networking to Effectively Work For You

Business Networking
The positive effects of networking such as building a new relationship or finding a partner dont just happen by themselves. You need to be proactive and willing to put the time and energy into networking.
You have probably met people who dont see the benefits of networking. For the benefits to start to appear, you need to be motivated, you need to be patient, you need to set goals and you need to think positively.
Stay Motivated
Without the right amount of motivation, networking wont be effective. Like anything in life, if you are motivated to succeed, the outcome will be favorable.
Networking takes time and energy. If you want to effectively integrate it into your business routine, you need to have the drive and passion. Its not supposed to be a chore but rather a positive experience that will become second nature.
Once you realize and experience the power of networking, you will do whatever it takes to continue to build relationships, leverage your network and help others. You will also notice that others may be very motivated to network, which should tell you something about what it can do for people.
The more you network, the more you will realize that the business community is small and connected. As a result, you will begin to run into some of the same people, which can be a good motivator and relationship builder. Stay motivated and continuously network. You wont be disappointed by what can happen.
Be Patient
All good things come in good time. Networking is no exception. Networking is about relationship building. Its not about what you can do for me the first time I meet you. As you get to know people over time, the goal is to build mutually beneficial relationships.
As you develop these relationships, you will be able to leverage them to help you with your business needs. The same is true for your contacts.
It takes time to meet the right people to integrate into your network. You will meet more people you dont connect with than people who you will. The people who you connect with will be the ones you will add to your Rolodex and take the time to nurture.
Dont rush into any relationships or situations if they dont feel right. Networking is about building quality relationships and helping others when the time is right.
Set Goals
If you are willing to network, you need to set some goals so you can be more effective during the process. Depending on your situation, your goals will change from time to time.
For each situation, decide what you would like to get out of networking (whether its a new job, business partner, customer or money for your business). Once you have an end goal in mind, you will become more focused during networking.
Take the time to research events, organizations and people so you can make the most of your time and connect with the right people. The last thing you want to do is spend time attending the wrong events and talking to the wrong people.
No matter what event you attend, you will have the chance to meet someone who could ultimately help you reach your goals. People know people. Dont rule out any networking situation.
With the proper goals in mind, you will appreciate the power of networking once your goals are reached. Stay motivated and be patient because you will find success with networking.
Think Positively
Attitude is everything. If you dont think positively, you will have a hard time with networking. Many people have a negative attitude about networking because they may have had a bad experience or they dont see the value.
A bad experience can typically be attributed to other people improperly networking (such as someone trying to sell you something at the first encounter). A bad experience could also be attributed to people not reaping the benefits of networking because they dont know how to network effectively or they arent patient.
Whatever the case, you need to think positively about networking because it does work. Its a process that works over time. It doesnt work right away. A major factor for networking to successfully work is to build mutually beneficial relationships. This takes time. Once these relationships are built, you will be able to leverage them to your benefit.
Have a good attitude about networking because you dont want to come across the wrong way to others. Peoples positive impressions about you are very important in the networking process.
Final Thought
With the right motivation, patience and attitude, you will be able to reach your networking goals. Networking only works for those who are willing to put in the time and energy to make it a success.
