Safety Enclosures, have you ever wondered what they are, or what there made of, how there installed or maybe whether you even need one? My purpose in writing this article is to give you information that will answer these questions and more.
WHAT IS A SAFETY ENCLOSURE?
A safety enclosure or sometimes call safety net is a net that is normally six feet tall and is attached to upright poles that are bolted to the frame of the trampoline. These enclosures are made to fit round, square, or rectangle trampolines. The safety net is made of a soft UV protectant material.
IS A SAFETY ENCLOSURE SOMETHING I NEED?
The answer to this question is absolutely, positively without question you need a safety enclosure for your trampoline. According to the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery \"70 percent of accidents occurred when there was no protective barrier.\" There are people that think that a safety net gives a false sense of security by allowing kids to try dangerous flips or stunts. Parents should set rules that prohibit the stunts whether or not you have an enclosure or not. As they say in the real world Mom and Dad aren\'t always going to be watching, so the enclosure would be a very wise addition to your trampoline. Information that has been gathered from several different American hospitals shows that almost half of all reported injuries from trampoline accidents occurred without a safety enclosure.
WHY YOU NEED A SAFETY ENCLOSURE:
First and foremost parents should lay down ground rules for jumping on your trampoline. One of the first rules if not the first should be to have one person at a time on the trampoline. Occasionally parents break there own rules and allow more than one person at a time on the trampoline. This is when the safety enclosure is needed because of jumpers colliding with one another. When this happens one of the jumpers can be knocked off or can land on the frame causing injury. With the safety enclosure jumpers can stay away from each other without fear of falling off of the trampoline. Even when there is only one jumper it is easy enough to loose your balance and fall off the trampoline mat.
WHAT IS AVAILABLE IN SAFETY ENCLOSURES?
There are four major brands of safety enclosures. The top brand for your money would be the Jump Sport with Sundance, Vikon and Airmaster respectively. There are probably more enclosures out on the market then these but you really need to do some research to see which one would fit your needs best. In my opinion the enclosure with the net that attaches to the outside of the poles the full length of the pole is the best design and best value. You don\'t want cheap when you are buying a safety enclosure. Inexpensive and cheap are two different things.
SUMMARY
In my opinion safety enclosures are a must to give you a little piece of mind while your youngsters are having fun and enjoying themselves. Just remember to use good common sense and lay down some ground rules before letting your kids jump. Take some time and do the research on trampoline safety enclosures before going online or down to the store to buy one. Most trampoline dealers have a packaged deal for trampolines with enclosures. You can also buy enclosures for your trampoline that you already have.
