Executive Leadership Coaching - What A Load Of Garbage

Management
Coaching the managers of the future is big business in the global corporate world. But it's also a big waste of money as I'll tell you why in this article.
Don't believe the hype that you read and hear. The corporate management training industry is full of yes men, theories that don't work and human resource geeks with clipboards. I know this because I've worked in management for three companies in the top 50 of the Fortune 100.
Let's take a closer look at the executive and leadership coaching industries. You'll almost always find that these are made of failed managers. If they were successful, they would still be leading the way for corporate America. Instead, they realised that they could make a quick buck in a second career as a "trainer". Lucrative career methinks - maybe you might want to try it yourself one day if you feel like retiring!
What this normally involves is going into large companies and teaching a group of would be managers about various buzzwords and lingo like "leap frog changes", "movers and shapers", "synergies" and all sorts of other mumbo jumbo.
But everyone is happy - think about it:
- the workers are happy because they get a week off from their regular job.
- the trainers are happy because they are paid very good money to run these courses.
- the employers are happy because they have satisfied the regulators.
Pretty much everyone is happy but nobody is any the wiser!
Unfortunately, you'll find that most coaching for executives is like this. Most, but not all.
