Developing Willpower as a Business Manager

Temperance. Temperance is moderation or restraint in both what you do and what you say. In different words, temperance is the power you possess to control yourself. Your strength of will, your discipline. Lord Alfred Tennyson, an English poet has stated, "The happiness of a man in this life doesn't consist in the absence but in the mastery of his passions." Happiness in both home and business life can be obtained when we empower ourselves by using self-restraint or temperance.

Temperate is a very important principle as it relates to Management Excellence for Entrepreneurs. It's a word that embodies the heart of Self-Control.

While managing your ideas and business building activities, control of your feelings and passions is an essential trait. You should control your mood weather in the state of elation, or the state of depression; neither emotion will serve you well in running your company.

This word also indicates the need to control excesses. Things in excess have the ability to take control of both you and your organization. For example, an excess in expenditures can become addictive and destructive.

To strengthen your temperance, try some of these exercises throughout the week:

-Don't overeat; do not worry about cleaning off your plate.

-Make yourself exercise 3 times this week for at least 30 minutes.

-Go without a habit for one week: try no sugar, no wine, or perhaps no burgers (just to let you practice self-discipline to master the trait of temperance).

This week, do whatever you can to practice your self-control and increase your temperance. Self-discipline is a lot like a muscle of the body, when you use it, it gets stronger and more powerful. If you don't use it, it becomes weak. Endeavor to employ temperance and will power to empower yourself and improve your life and your managing skills.
