There are lots of people who do not realize that depression can cause so much problems and so much pain. There are even some people who are suffering from depression do not take their conditions seriously.
Some people thought that other person who are suffering from depression and changes their moods comes only from weakness or character flaw. This myth causes some people to just hide their depression since they feel embarrassed.
There are lots of factors that play role in having depression which includes genetics, environment, life events, medical conditions, and so on. There are some research made and revealed that depression runs in families and that some people inherit genes that make them get depressed. But not everyone who has genetic makeup of depression gets depressed, and there are people with no family history of depression gets depressed. So there isnt any single cause of depression, amidst of the fact that genes are one factor.
Social and family environment play a role in having depression. Negative, stressful, dramatic and unhappy family conditions can make some teens affect their self-esteem and leading them to be depressed.
Some life events that can occur to ones life such as death of a loved one or friend can go beyond normal grief, leading that person to be depressed. \r Poverty and homelessness are few of the social conditions that can lead a person to be depressed.
There are certain medical conditions can affect hormone balance that has effect on the mood of a person. One of these conditions is hypothyroidism which can lead to depression to some people, but when this condition is treated the depression disappears.
The symptoms of people who are suffering from depression are sadness; feeling tired all the time; not enjoying things that he/she used to enjoy; moving away from family and friends; irritability; weight loss or gain; unable to concentrate; change in sleeping pattern (too much sleep or lack of sleep); feeling of worthlessness; pains and aches; indifference; and thoughts of committing suicide.
Depression can be mild and also severe. At its worst, depression can make a person feel like committing suicide.
There are also physical symptoms in having depression such as loss of appetite; upset stomach; headaches; loss weight or gain; and sleeping problems.
Nowadays, depression is one of the common emotional problems being encountered to lots of people but the good news is that this can be treated. If you are suffering from depression, you do not have to neglect this condition since this can ruin your life. You can gain back your good life if you recognize that you are suffering from depression and look for way to treat it. In fact, there are about 80% of people who suffered from depression have a better life and enjoy life now.
