Choosing the Right and Perfect Cremation Urn

Volume for your beloveds remains and the cremation urn that will keep them safe is measured in cubic inches, or CI. Its very simple to figure out how many cubic inches you will need in order to properly store and memorialize the special place they will always keep in your heart.

As a general rule of thumb, just take the weight of your beloved and keep the same number, while changing the measurement from pounds to cubic inches. In other words, if your loved one weighed 120 pounds, then you will need a cremation urn with 120 cubic inches of space.

This is not a perfect conversion rate, but it ensures that you will have plenty of room. For instance, the cremated remains of a 100 pound person will yield about 90 cubic inches of ashes, not 100. In any case, its always better to have a little more room than you need so that you can easily fit your beloveds remains inside the water tight bag within the allotted space of your chosen cremation urn.

Going with what is already decided for you

If the person that captured your affection wished to be buried after their cremation, this will limit your options for cremation urns just a bit, since some materials are definitely better than others for burial purposes. Metal cremation urns are typically best for this purpose if you wish for it to last, or you can choose to allow nature to take its course and opt for a biodegradable cremation urn.

Cremation urns made of more sturdy materials are also better for outdoor memorials - bronze in particular, as it does not rust. Marble and other stone cremation urns are also very common for outdoor use, and they look absolutely spectacular there with their sparkling flecks and shiny reflective surfaces.

Porcelain, glass, and wood cremation urns are much better suited for indoor above ground display. The up side to these is the versatility in design, and the wide available of matching keepsakes. What better way to warm your heart than to gaze upon your beloveds memorial right in your own home?
